30,000 Grocery Store Workers Stand Together with Community
Next Wednesday, August 28th at a grocery store near you!
In very difficult contract negotiations, grocery workers across the Puget Sound region are being threatened with the loss of their health care coverage as the employers (Safeway, QFC & Fred Meyer, and Albertsons) use the coverage requirement of working at lease 30 hours per week in the Affordable Care Act as an excuse to drop coverage for workers who work under 30 hours per week. The employers have total control of the number of hours worked. UFCW 21, the union representing these workers has asked Seattle NOW members to express their solidarity with these workers and participate in informational picketing with them at the locations and times listed below.
Grocery workers are fighting back and need our solidarity! Please consider joining with grocery workers at one of the locations below and when you are asked to sign in by one of the UFCW staff, please sign in as aNOW member. We want them to know we are there with them!
I could not paste the graphic into the blog. For times/places please go to:
Please Identify yourself as representing Seattle NOW when you arrive at the store. Informational pickets are easy, fun and effective.
